Yes, and /proc/asound/version showed 1.0.9.

I did not patch the kernel source, though. I only compiled and installed
1.0.9rc2 after upgrading the kernel.

BTW: There was also a gcc upversion recently that I saw in my yum log.
Don't know if that matters:

GCC) 3.4.3 20050227 (Red Hat 3.4.3-22.fc3)
