there are some (slightly clunky) tools for reading hfs+ and there is a
kernel module in development for mounting hfs+ read/ write. Think it
works quite slowly at the moment.
if you have a macos install (which the person who originally started
this didn't), you're better off using mol and mounting a netatalk
share on the host machine.
