[linux-audio-user] newbie: libasound question

Hi.. I've recently got my linux workstation (redhat
7.3) up and running and most things are going pretty
well.

the problem i am having is with building applications
that require libasound .. (gdam, seq24, but i'm
guessing there are many that require it). 

from the little i've seen on tldp.org it's something
to do with alsa - as far as i know i have installed
the also rpms.

other applications, like csound, run fine. snd
installed fine, but doesn't run, so i'm sondering
whether this is related.

any help appreciated..
