It could be that this device has no hardware mixer (at least my tascam
hasn`t). You have to control the knobs on the device.

Another approache: Is this device based on the envy-chip? Try envycontrol...

You definitly want to upgrade your kernel to a recent version before
trying everything else. At least before sending bug reports...
