To be honest, I do not really need the capabilities of the binary 
driver, but using the nv driver instead causes the fonts to be very 
huge on my desktop and less colour depth so watching imgaes and 
gradients isn't as joyful as it can be.

The problem on notebooks is that you have no choice in the hardware 
components :( .

But anyway, it's a good hint and I'll try out if latency decreases when 
switching the nvidia driver off as well as the NIC.
