Kaj: Thank you so much for the kind words! The ironic thing about that is that I very very rarely watch movies or play games, weird huh!? =)<br><br>Julien: Wow!! Thank you really! That was a wonderful mail to read, and you have a big valid point with the vocals. I wish I'd known more vocal artists, I know very few. But my goal is to have the next album (if I ever get around to that) with alot of vocals. Now I atleast have something to show to potential vocalists, so maybe I can contact people and ask if there's interest!<br>
<br>Ok, instruments:<br>* All of the orchestral stuff is Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra, and usually sequenced in OpenOctave. Sometimes sequenced in ardour3.<br>* Pianos are usually pianoteq, with some minor variations.<br>
* Most synthesizer-stuff is made with TAL NoiseMaker<br>* The electrical pianos are MDA E-Piano.<br>* Drum sounds are a mixture of stuff made out of existing hydrogen-kits, the open source drumkit, and also some "commercial" samples from a sample pack I got way back.<br>
* For guitar, I've got a Boss GT-8 hooked up to my soundcard via SPDIF, which has served me very well through the years! <br><br>Yeah, I thought you'd recognize the old A Change of Heart-melody! ;) It felt good to revive that and put it in a new package. I agree that it's probably too long though, I guess I'm damaged goods from all my electronic music listening (build build build build build break). I need to learn making the songs shorter and more compact usually. <br>
<br>The Skandinavian mood - yeah you've said that before, and I really like that way of saying it. I think there's alot to that, I guess our surroundings and climate affect us more then we think, which is very cool. <br>
And it really makes me glad that you didn't think it was too repetative! That's also something I'm trying to avoid really, and it takes time to learn that properly for me.<br><br>Again, thank you very much for your mail Julien! what a delightful album. Thank you for sharing this. Let me put a plea for information and a criticism first, so they are out of the way and we can come to the absolutely delightful part of this mail. :-)<br>

The criticism is this: it would have been even more to my taste, if there had been vocals. Especially since I've heard two of your "vocal" pieces.<br>
It was good to meet at least one old acquaintance in here: a change of heart. A little shorter and it might have been the perfect introduction of the version with vocals. I loved the addition of the strings and other sparkly bits.<br>
The first two pieces blended very nicely. OK, they were designed to do so. The second piece reminded me of Music Instructor, a group(?) from the late 90s. Their first pieces made up as instructions on how to make dance music or make a party or whatever. :-)<br>
the balance of spheric sounds and chord and hiphop influenced beats gives it something very satisfactory in my ears. I also enjoy the dark mood. Something, which I would call the Skandinavian mood. Perhaps the mixture of darkness and openness or wideness.<br>
if I had to pick a favourite, it would be Lives. Perhaps just the element of the already known with a strong "hook line". Perhaps I've just come to love your guitar sound. On reflection it is a combination of the two.<br>
I hope, that sometime soon, we'll get some more vocal music from you to get the icing on the birthday cake. A very lovely album all through. You have heard me complain about the repetetiveness of the music without solo instruments or vocals and yet I've listened through it all and haven't been bored. Only inspired to hear the Theremin line over Lives or the soulful guitar solo Flow or The Last Time.<br>
I just thought again, that it's intriguing and reviving to hear music, where you can't immediately guess the synthesizers or sound libraries. So often, when I still listen to something popular, I can at least put my finger directly on it for some instruments. But this is well chosen, well processed and mixed, so nothing seems obvious.<br>
