What happens if you do the following?
1. Disable Pulseaudio
2. Look in /proc/asound/ to see which hw device (hw:0, hw:1 etc)
   your 1818 is
3. Start jackd from command line with -dhw:0 (or whichever one
   is the 1818) instead of the "fancy" name
