Sample buffering is the process of loading a small part of each sample
into the installed RAM to play back instantly when a note on a keyboard is
struck. By pre-loading a small amount of the sample into RAM, it gives the
hard drive enough time to access the rest of the sample, and finish the
job.
Wasn't there discussion earlier on this list about this simple technique being
patented?
