/h+ on the vst-plugins list (i still don't know his real name but he's
a smart guy) made a very similar observation last month. he noted that
the home user world is dominated by people who didn't pay for the
software, never call support (because they didn't pay) and whose
expectations are not particularly important given their status as
non-paying customers. by contrast, the pro world, which these days
includes things like protools, paris, nuendo, sadie, perhaps logic,
and a few more obscure tools, is made up of paying customers who call
support often, pay a lot and expect a lot.
