This could be the good old linux-2.6.x + realtime jackd + DRM driver
problem. I have only experienced it with Qt-based jack clients though.
Do you run jackd in realtime mode? If so try without '-R' or disable memory
locking with '-m'.
Other things you could try:
- disable DRI in your XF86Config (if you can live without 3D graphics)
- use linux-2.4.x
