I use 24bit depth, and I'm agree the display is less readable now.

No, unless you edit src/qjackctlMainForm.ui yourself. Look for the lines:

    <property name="paletteBackgroundPixmap">
        <pixmap>displaybg1.png</pixmap>
    </property>

and remove it. Then make it all over.

BTW, what screen depth are you using? 8bit/256colors? Isn't that
old-fashioned?
