Sorry, I had another relevant thought.

I have always found playing oggs in Windows to be completely 
hassle-free, possibly because I've always used Winamp, and kept it up to 
date semi-regularly. By the time I first came across an ogg file, Winamp 
supported it "out of the box".

In contrast, I have had far more trouble playing formats like RealMedia, 
wma, and so forth. I have downloaded countless codecs and media players 
in an attempt to play some wmv files.
