Yep. I had luck with a small Edirol UM-2 which is supported by the 
snd-usb-audio.

You didn't really say if you wanted midi or real audio (both are supported in 
the same alsa-module) but a lot of devices work. Edirol is working directly, 
Tascam requires another module and a firmware to be loaded but works 
otherwise.
