I'm afraid I differ with you on all points.  I certainly desire an audio
setup with a consistent user inteface.  I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Given that this is a goal, something would be needed to communicate the
methods that can be used to create user interfaces that are consistent
with the rest of the setup.

As for it being absurd, I'm not sure why you think that but it certainly
seems within the realm of possibly to me.
