Software needed less resources in the 80ies, when we programmed in 
Assembler, but in the 80ies it was easy to keep track of things while 
programming for Z80, 6502, 6510 and 68000. I guess you Linux guys need 
to use C, because the CPUs and kernels have become much more complex.
