[LAD] Anyone have experience with OSS (3 or 4)?

A quick look at WASAPI reference and examples seems to indicate it uses a 
blocking IO method. Is there
a callback mode? Sorry for all of these OT questions, but I got really 
curious. Can WASAPI match Linux and
OSX levels of latency?
