No, as there are far too many things to click on already. However, you
can put the mouse cursor over the point in the timeline you'd like to
locate to and hit the 'p' key to move the playhead there.

What DPI setting to you use in X?

The playhead and other cursors (and the selection rectangle) are drawn
in an overlay plane. This allows the playhead to be redrawn rapidly
without requiring that anything under it be redrawn. In FLTK, this works
via a trick with double buffering. If you don't have a double buffered
visual available in X, I imagine it would flicker. In any case, the
flickering is harmless and well worth the enhanced performance.
