[LAD] making sense of Jack MIDI; or, is this an appropriate use for Jack?

actually, if there is a JACK time master that has a notion of musical time
(which is a choice of the user, not JACK), then JACK will also tell you the
time in terms of bars and beats, along with the tempo and meter.
