[LAD] JACK sample rate pull up/down

How is this achieved? Does it actually work internally at a different sample 
rate and then resample the playout to the hardware sink, or does it work at a 
standard rate and up/down the sample rate upon export? Or perhaps I completely 
misunderstand the mechanics of how this is achieved...
