Well that was far too easy :) copied showtime.c from example-clients
Inserted a new line #64 (just below the printf ("\n");) 'usleep(100000);'
compiled with 'gcc showtime.c $(pkg-config --cflags --libs jack) -o showt'

It's perfect! thanks for the Python link though.
