Disable it if you don't have a dual core and compile for your machine only.

However there may be a few kernel features like HPET or SMT that depend
on SMP, `make menuconfig` will tell you about it.

that's CONFIG_SCHED_SMT :

SMT scheduler support improves the CPU scheduler's decision making
when dealing with Intel Pentium 4 chips with HyperThreading at a
cost of slightly increased overhead in some places. If unsure say
N here.
