[linux-audio-user] more on mandrake audio weirdness

... well... booted into old kernel
and it seems all is fine!!!
i'm wondering what will happen when i reboot...
im sure i had sound running in kernel 2.4.19
but at the moment im using 2.4.18 and its okay
left devfs bits in modules.conf
have added the reccomended lines to devfsd.conf as per the INSTALL file 
in alsa-driver tarball
and thats it... modprobes, and hey presto it works.
god knows why!!! or for how long.....

but thanx everyone

if anyone has any ideas why this mystery might be going on .... i'd be 
very curious! at least i've learnt a bit about devfs....
and found the turn-key site, very nice setup indeed :)
