Hi Jason,

I switched this summer from Debian to Gentoo, and so far I am extremely
happy with it. I'm running a vanilla 2.4.19 kernel + XFS, ll and preempt
patches, plus a patch by Ivan Kokshaysky (included in 2.4.20) fixing the
buggy cardbus/pci bridge handling on my Toshiba laptop that prevented me
to use my RME HDSP card. I'm running a patched version of alsa9rc5
through the emerge system (custom .ebuild file including Marcus
Andersson's HDSP cold boot bugfix). All the other apps are manually
installed (jack from cvs, jackified pd, ardour, jMax 4.0 - with
preliminary jack support).
The only problem I encountered trying to build ardour was an incorrect
libsndfile version (ardour needs libsndfile>=1 and the default Gentoo
one is 0.28).
Maybe we could start some work to provide ebuild files for up-to-date
and rocking audio apps on Gentoo. I'm definitely interested by the
Gentoo specific ML.
