Better to set the output levels at normal volume (0dB on the meter if you
have one) and adjust input gain on the stereo in.

The exception might be if the sending desk has pro level +4dB outputs and
the receiving desk is expecting consumer -10dB levels (in which case it
probably has RCA input sockets) - then you'd have to lower the mixer output
to prevent overloading.

In general, you don't want to drop levels lower than necessary in the
audio chain; then you have to use more gain (= more noise) to bring them
up again)

Preventing feedback is about mic and speaker positioning (as far from each
other as possible!) as much as anything else.

You can sometime do things with EQ bit there in no 'correct' setting other
than anythings that works and sounds OK.
