/dev/dsp is the "old" OSS device naming convention.
i haven't used the OSS emulation on my delta66 much. but i don't
think it works like that.

the envy24control program that comes with alsa allows you to 
select which physical output gets what signal.
it can be any of the driver's pcm output buffers, or 
a direct pass-through from any of the card's inputs, or it
can be a mixed signal created by the card's monitor mixer.
