I'm having a problem starting tappir.

With jackd 0.44.0 jackd says this when starting tapiir: 

  subgraph starting at tapiir timed out (subgraph_wait_fd=13, status = 1024, state = Running)

and tapiir says: 

  the maximum buffer size is now 1024
  the sample rate is now 48000/sec
  engine sample rate: 48000
  client activated
  Hangup
  
"tapiir --alsa" also doesn't work, it gives this: 

  Playback device is hw:0,0
  Capture device is hw:0,0
  Parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels, non-blocking mode
  Wanted tick time: 1us, poll mode: yes
  Sample format not available for playback: Invalid argument
  Unable to set parameters for playback stream: Invalid argument

I have a M-Audio Audiophile inside. Any idea what might be wrong?
