They are that much, because alsamixer shows all input and output ports
of the *chipset*, not the real card. Most controls aren't effective on
an Audiophile. 

I can recommend envy24control from alsa-tools, I think. You somehow
need this tool to work with ICE1720-cards like the Audiophile.
