I would also like to see Ardour in Mandrake, but I understand that it's author 
does not support third party binary versions, which is fair enough.

No, I think kaconnect requires KDE while aconnectgui is based on fltk. 
Kaconnect is a bit easier to use but I don't run KDE on my studio computer.
