I just tried to checkout the code from cvs on a Debian woody box (cvs
version 1.11.5) and a Slackware 8.1 box (cvs version 1.11.2) and both
give the error:

ross at turalyon:/usr/src$ cvs -d ':pserver:anonymous at cvs.alsa-project.org:/cvsroot/alsa' login

cvs [login aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any)

I'm not logged in, and so checkout doesn't work.  I tried the web
interface, but it doesn't seem to have my changes.

At any rate, I'm sure your checkin was fine - but it does seem that CVS
is having some issues...
