Definitely. For one thing, the Sonic Solutions studio
I've worked in a couple times and sent our clients to
for about 20 years retails for about $8,000.00 USD.
Well, that's what the engineer told me. I've never
actually looked into it so that figure could be
completely wrong. Maybe it's $80.00 USD :)

A great preview of the possibilities that I see for a
jackd mastering chain is Rezound to JAMin. Neither
application has jackd transport control but if they
both have it we've almost got Sonic Solutions by the
throat. Transport control for JAMin is actively being
developed now. There's some wav viewing functionality
that could be written into Rezound that would greatly
enhance the mastering task. But Rezound almost has
that  covered already. IMO, this is a very promising
environment.

BTW, the only jack client wav editer/player at the
moment is Rezound.
