The latest incarnation of terminatorX has support for the alsa midi 
sequencer so you can trigger samples. I haven't tested that yet though.

I have been using it to play live without problems. It gives me a lot of 
freedom for making improvised sets but also I can play polished and 
practiced too.

Last night I was using two alsaplayers for samples and ams to fuck with 
the sounds. It was a very relaxing evening.

ssm also has quite advanced midi sequencing capabilities but it has lost 
jack support for me recently so I haven't been using it as much as I 
want to. I really want to get the spiralloops plugin up live as it has 
now got massive sample hold features.
