This means that your MIDI in has been properly set up and can 
now be connected to any application which should be driven by 
the incoming MIDI signal.

Use aconnect or qjackctl or kaconnect to do so.

BTW: I do know nothing about pd so I cannot tell you how to 
connect it to pd.
