Atte,
When I was facing a similar decision a few months ago, my local music
store didn't have an Edirol UM-2 (which may fit your bill), and I decided
not to get an M-Audio device because I was worried about USB standard
compliance as well as proprietary firmware. Instead, I went ahead and
got an Edirol PCR-30. That one's actually a 32-key MIDI keyboard with
a bunch of programmable buttons and dials and sliders, and it just
happends to have a USB port as well. Everything worked right out of
the box, and in hindsight I'm glad to have gotten the PCR-30 instead
of the UM-2 because I really like having an extra keyboard as well
as a bunch of additional controllers.
