Tim, 
getting a higher priority irq is much much more important than getting
a non-shared irq for your soundcard. irq5 is very low priority and will
almost be 'served' as last... 
also, maybe you can disable onboard sound and USB in the bios if you
test with your RME card? and if you don't need network connection
during testing... you can try to shut down eth0... (cant remember the
correct commandline for that; there is some gui-too as well, network
control iirc)
