There is a simple solution I learned from userfriendly.org yesterday (in the

PS: Do those cassettes contain spoken information "This is left","This is 
right" or how do you say which channel is left/right?
After all it should be unimportant right from hearing wether the drumset 
sounds like when you are at the playing position or at the listening 
position. And even an Orchestra where you expect the first violins to come 
from left can be recorded with a stereo-view from one of the musicians...
