nope. this happens if i alt-tab to qjackctl, fiddle with connections,
alt-tab to ardour, fiddle with stuff, and then hit "play"

envy24control says it's 0.1.0. it is actually not the one that came
with alsa tools, but an rpm that i found with just envy24control
compile with gtk2.

which leads me to another question, which is "do i have a clue what i
am doing yet?" I bought the audiophile because it is high quality, and
has hardware monitoring for zero latency. mostly based on reading
archives of this list :-) But i haven't really found any docs on how to
use this setup, so i am figuring it out on my own. I go into ardour
(which is very cool, but also very complex for someone like me who has
never done recording before) and turn on the "hardware monitoring"
option. i also have h/w monitor turned on in qjackctl. When I do this,
things stop making noise unless i pipe them directly into the digital
mix in envy24control. a little awkward, but it would be ok if the
settings in envy24control didn't change themselves.

so what i would like to know is, does anyone have a doc that explains
how to configure ardour, jack, and the envy24control to work together?
at least, if someone could explain to me here how they work with a
setup similar to mine. i see lots of posts saying "use envy24control",
but they don't explain what to do with it. i could use someone with a
bit of experience to help me up the curve, and if someone can do that i
would gladly write an envy24/jack/ardour howto.
