Hello Folks;

  I am a linux enthusiast, and software engineer who would like to start using my Linux laptop as a live performance tool.

  I am a bassist, and want to be able to process, sample and loop my instrument through my laptop in a live situation.

  I am just beginning my research into the available software and hardware, and would greatly appreciate any information. Especially on hardware - what would be the best usb/ firewire interface for live performance?

  Following is my setup:

  Alienware m-51 laptop w/ 1 gig ram, 40gig hd, 3.24 mhz intel processor
  7-string MTD custom fretless, strung B-E-A-D-G-C-F
  Some stomp boxes: MXR Stereo chorus, Boss RC-20 loop station, Old Roland Phaser

  At this point, my idea is to string it up like this:

  Bass -> Stomp Boxes -> usb/firewire interface -> Laptop -> Amplifier / PA

  Thanks for your time folks - I look forward to your reply!

  vic
