Hi Lee,

Perhaps I may have a fundamental lack of understanding of how all of this
works in concert?  What widgets need I fire up in what order?  Within a week
or so I may go in search of a sound card that Alsa and that system will use
And play midi via onboard synth hardware and has the required 15-pin
joystick port and put the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card in this Win XP
machine.  Any recommendations on cards meeting those requirements?

If Rosegarden is running it would show up in the list from aconnect,
which it doesn't for some reason.  Then you would just connect it to the
output port.
