dmesg isn't a file, at least not in the traditional way. It's a program 
showing you a history of kernel-messages.
Just enter "dmesg" in a console and send the output...

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the 
Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be
