Jack is probably installed to a different library directory.
Can you do a "locate libjack.la" or "find / -name 'libjack.la'"?
I suspect it's hiding out in /usr/local/lib

Once you find where it's at, you can do:

export LDFLAGS="$LDFLAGS /location/of/file"

then run make again.
