I use an M-Audio Delta 1010 at home: 8 inputs and outputs for
1/4" balanced TRS or unbalanced TS plugs, __and__ MIDI in/out. The
digital-to-audio and audio-to-digital converters are in the rack-mounted
breakout box, as well as all of the inputs and outputs except for the
S/PDIF input/output which is on the PCI card.

The Delta 1010 works well in the Linux environment, and I have used it
with RoseGarden (for MIDI and digital audio), Audacity (digital audio)
and Ardour (digital audio).

It comes in two versions:

* Delta 1010 (about $450 US at sweetwater.com):

* Delta 1010LT (about $230 US at sweetwater.com):
