Thanks to all for your responses! All encouraging and hearwarming to 
read. I had heard that there were some linux audio guys at the Uni. I am 
at the little uni in Southampton though so have not met them yet. 
Perhaps if any of them are on this list and want to get in touch they 
can email me direct, or Steve would you be kind enough to pass on my 
email address to them? Thanks. To all those that have offered help, 
thanks once again. I'll email you personally. To anyone else interested 
email me off list.
