Strange.  Please edit alsa-kernel/usb/usbmidi.c; change the line

/* #define DUMP_PACKETS */

to

#define DUMP_PACKETS

and recompile the driver.  Then please send me what the driver writes
to the system log when you're using controllers/keys.
