There are patched pam packages for both sarge and etch on debrfa:
http://ftp.techweb.rfa.org/debrfa/dists/sarge/main/binary-i386/
http://ftp.techweb.rfa.org/debrfa/dists/etch/main/binary-i386/

source packages are there as well in main/source/ for both.
