I primarily use audacity.  Snd I use for its real-time tempo 
adjustment.  I use SoX when I want to automate something.

Ardour is clearly the best DAW I've used, including some I've used 
from Roland.

Rosegarden is the best I've used, although I really, really miss 
the harmony browser in Jazz++.
