In Supercollider this is done with:

{SinOsc.ar (freq: XLine.kr (start: 20, end: 20000, dur: 1, doneAction: 
2))}.play

which produces a log sweep from 20 to 20000hz in one sec.

{SinOsc.ar (freq: Line.kr (start: 20, end: 20000, dur: 1, doneAction: 
2))}.play

produces a linear sweep.

If you wonder about the doneAction: it deallocates the synth when the (X)Line 
is done..
