LASH doesn't enforce any kind of file format on apps.  Saving to an XML
file is one option, but you can save whatever you want (including audio
files, binary data, etc).

Each applications gets a directory to save to, you may put (basically)
whatever you need in that directory to save and restore a session
exactly.
