Oh, I didn't catch that part. This is a very serious error, yes.
Can you please send me the following files:
1. One of your soundfiles
2. ~/.snd_soundfilelist
3. The output of ls -la ~/peaks/

This is weird. Is your machine old? Have you seen strange behaviours in 
other programs?
