[LAU] A while back someone was looking for an audio player that works fine with Linux?

Other recomended options are the older iRiver Players  (i can't remember 
wether you need Rockbox installed to make uncompressed recordings) and the 
Trekstor Vibez which can do 16bit/48kHz uncompressed recordings...

All three players should give very decent results when hooked up to an 
external preamp and Mic.
