Hey there,

You need the snd-rme9652 module.  I don't have any of the hdsp stuff  
at all (to my knowledge).  The contents of the file produced by

"alsactl store -f myconfig.conf" might prove useful once you have the  
snd-rme9652 loaded and all that jazz.

I have the 9632 with the daughter I/O cards up and running without  
any issues and i also run debian/sid.

Good luck and shout if getting the module in doesn't do the trick.   
Folks please feel free to jump in if I'm misleading this poor chap.   
It's been a while (fortunately) since I've had to dig into any of this.
